Sometimes we all have days when turning up to the gym can seem intimidating, overwhelming, or maybe a little scary for no particular reason.
A gym workout can be a haven – somewhere you can escape a hectic day at work and release some stress. It allows you to detach from your deadlines and documents and let your mind be present – to switch off a little.
When you’re feeling stressed or anxious, however, working out can feel anything but, and going to the gym can be a mountain in itself. We can work through that with small steps.
A first step is just getting there.
Have a 15-minute stretching session or a quick bodyweight workout and know that you’ve done something. You can still get a release of endorphins from a shorter workout.
If your anxieties come from being unsure about what to do in the gym, talk to us. We can understand your needs and boost your confidence by teaching you how to work out effectively.
If all else fails, sometimes you just need to give your anxious self some space to breathe. Take some time to relax in the spa or stick your headphones in and zone out on the treadmill. A healthy mind and a healthy body go hand in hand.
